So it's almost time for the Champions League final, where the fantastically wealthy and extravagant Galácticos take on Atlético, the scrappy but tough-as-old-boots underdogs. There's also a rumour doing the rounds that Zlatan might be moving to Manchester, so to cash in on this double football news bonanza, we've given you a Weekly lesson on the Champions League final!
Students will read a Guardian article about Atlético's strategy under their manager, Diego Simeone, and go through a series of activities to discuss football, as well as learn some of the more flamboyant vocabulary which sports journalists like to use. Finally, they will look online for their favourite football video clips, and talk about them with their fellow students.
We hope that this lesson can appeal to both those who are football fanatics as well as ambivalent, but if you think that a football lesson would sink without a trace for some of your classes, keep an eye out for the newsletter, which will provide some suggestions for those not so keen on sports.
Have a nice week,
The EF Class Team
